Attack head East for weekend tilts
The Owen Sound Attack are set to head East for a pair of games on the weekend, with stops set for Kingston and our nation’s capital.
The Attack and Frontenacs will meet for the 2nd and final time this season when puck drops at 7:00pm at the K-Rock Centre on Friday, Jan. 29. Owen Sound will then wrap up the short road trip with a matinee game in Ottawa against the 67’s on Saturday, Jan. 30. Owen Sound takes a 19-17-6-3 record into the weekend, a mark that puts them at 47 points and 6th in the Western Conference on the season.
The Frontenacs currently boast the Eastern Conference’s best record at 30-13-2-1 and were recently named an honourable mention in the latest BMO CHL Top 10 Rankings. Overtime was needed to decide the only previous meeting between the squads on the year, a game that saw the Fronts down the Attack 2-1 in the extra frame at the Bayshore on Jan. 9.
Kevin Hancock, who has elevated his game as of late by pocketing 11 points in the team’s last 10 games, scored the lone goal for the Attack in the OT loss to the Fronts earlier this year.
Owen Sound’s offensive production has also ramped up as of late, with overage forward Josh Sterk continuing to set the pace for the squad with 34 points on the the year. Kingston, who is seven points up on Barrie in the race for the pole position in the East, is lead by Spencer Watson’s 51 points, with Michael Dal Colle contributing 45 to the cause.
Following Friday’s game the Attack will head another hour up the highway to take on the Ottawa 67’s at 1:00pm at TD Place.
Ottawa and the Attack have also played once previously on the season, a high paced offensive game that saw the 67’s win 7-5 on Oct. 11 in Owen Sound.
The 67’s, led by Dante Salituro’s 26 goals and 59 points on the year, sit in 7th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 23-21-1-1.
Fans can follow the Attack live for both games this weekend, with the tilts available on Rogers Local 53 and Kia of Owen Sound Terry’s Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS.
