Attack Dropped 5-0 by Storm
After a spirited affair in Guelph on Friday evening, the Owen Sound Attack returned home for the back end of a home and home with the Storm, looking to split the series.
Cameron Brace and Steven Janes would both be scratched as Brace was serving the first of a two game suspension and Janes was nursing an upper body injury.
The first period would start rather sloppily for both teams as they tried to feel other out. With just over five minutes remaining in the first, Andrey Pedan would receive a five minute match penalty for a slew foot to Daniel Catenacci. The Attack would not be able to muster a goal on the five man advantage and entered the second period knotted at zero.
The second period provided most of the goal scoring and it was all Guelph. Zach
Leslie scored on the PP to give the Guelph Storm a 1-0 lead as his seeing eye shot found its way through the Attack defender and Jordan Binnington.
The Attack would keep pace, but a terrible giveaway in their own zone to the stick of Jason Dickinson made it 2-0 as he beat Jordan Binnington glove side. The Attack would continue to pressure the Storm as the game went back and forth but Guelph kept at it and Brock McGinn buried a rebound past Binnington as he was left almost untouched.
The Attack would enter the third period down 3-0 and it would get a little worse from there. 5:17 in, Zack Mitchell would bury his 18th of the season and just under two minutes later, Scott Kosmachuk would snipe his 25th to give Guelph a 5-0 lead.
That would be all she wrote as Garrett Sparks made 38 saves for his 6th shutout of the season and second against Owen Sound.
