Attack Drop 3-0 Decision to Knights
The 2nd Annual Pink in the Rink took place on Saturday night when the London Knights visited the Owen Sound Attack for the second time this season.
The Knights were coming off a 1-0 win over Brampton while the Attack was coming off a 2-1 win over the Kitchener Rangers.
The two teams started off feeling one another out, with several big hits back and forth, which eventually lead to Kurtis MacDermid and Paxton Leroux dropping the mitts. This bout was somewhat ironic as Kurtis’ brother Lane was involved in his first of two fights in the first period of the Toronto/Boston game, meaning two brothers combined for three fighting majors.
After a scoreless first period, the Knights found the scoreboard when Josh Anderson flipped a backhand over the right pad of Binnington to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
Just under four minutes later Anderson finished off a beautiful passing play to give the Knights a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.
The Attack pushed and pressured but weren’t able find the back of the net. London would add another goal and the Attack would fall 3-0.
The story of the game was the penalty killing of both teams as the Attack went 0-7 and the Knights went 0-6. The Attack actually outshot the Knights 34-28, but weren’t able to put the puck past Patterson.
The Centennial Windows Three Stars of the Game were:
3) Jake Patterson 34SV SO
2) Chris Tierney 2A+2
1) Josh Anderson 2G,1A
During the 1st intermission, Jaden Lindo was honored as the recipient of the Terry’s Trailer Service Education Award. The 16 year old forward kept up an B+ average in all University level courses.
The Attack would like to thank all of the fans who supported Pink in the Rink 2013. The Jersey’s will be up for auction shortly, so please stay tuned to www.attackhockey.com for more details.
