Ray McKelvie Award for 1st Round Selection: Cedrick Guindon
The recipient of this year’s Ray McKelvie Award for 1st Round Selection by the Owen Sound Attack goes to Cedrick Guindon of the Rockland Nationals, taken 10th overall in this year’s OHL Draft presented by Real Canadian Superstore.
The left shot centre was a favourite of Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. He says: “Cedrick is a very smooth, very fast skating forward who can play both centre and wing.”
Guindon played 41 games in the HEO last year, scoring 24 times and adding 35 assists for 59 points. Attack Assistant General Manager Joey Hishon says: “I’ve seen him twice and I love him. He has incredible hockey sense with great speed and a good stick.”
Attack Director of Player Development Sean Lafortune is excited: “He’s a dynamic offensive player, he plays with a high compete level and he fits the way our coaches want us to play. He’s a guy that will fit into our team in many ways, both on ice and off ice. In a year or two, he’s going to be a real frontline player in the OHL.”
