Playoff Hockey Looms as Attack Joust with Knights and Rangers
Four games left. Four games for the Attack to sharpen their game and for the standings to solidify and provide Owen Sound with their first-round opponent. Prior to OHL action Wednesday, the Attack sit in 6th place in the West, 3rd in the Midwest, and 1 point back of Guelph. With London holding down the top spot in the division, along with Windsor owning 1st place in the West Division, the bears are staring down a likely matchup with either the Greyhounds or Firebirds. This weekend may well decide the standings and provide a proper warmup for post-season competition.
First the Attack will take on London for their 9th and final meeting of the season. The Knights have had Owen Sound’s number this season coming away with bounces, timely goals, stellar goaltending and explosive offense to take all of the previous 8 meetings so far. The Attack would love nothing less than to take the final game of their season series to build on their strong second half leading to the playoffs.
On Saturday, Kitchener will come to the Harry Lumley Bayshore for the second last meeting with Owen Sound. The two will meet again next weekend for the final game of each team’s respective regular seasons. Kitchener is in a final push to lockdown a playoff spot, competing with Erie and Sarnia. The Rangers sit 3 and 4 points up on the pair for 7th spot in the Western Conference. Owen Sound would love nothing more than to make that a difficult process for their Midwest rivals with an important 2 points on the line Saturday night. The Attack are 5-2-1 in their first 8 matches with the Rangers this season.
Tickets remain available for this Saturday’s match against Kitchener and playoff tickets for the first two home games of round one of the OHL playoffs are now on sale. Season Ticket Members are reminded to reserve their seats at least 1 business day prior to each playoff match to ensure you have your seats.
