Joe Tomato’s The Week Ahead Preview #23 – Nearing the End
The Attack head into the end of the season with a couple goals, to break their losing streak, and to pull ahead of the Guelph Storm and Erie Otters. The race for positioning in the playoffs has become increasingly tight as we near the end of the season. The Attack have a record of (26-26-5-3) which gives them 60 points on the season. This ties them with the Guelph Storm, and the Otters sit only one point ahead. The Attack will take on the Rangers Wednesday night at the Bayshore to finish off their homestead before heading to Erie for back to back games against the Otters. While last week was not kind to the Attack, close rivals such as Guelph failed to pull ahead and have kept pace with the Attack, making for a very important next couple games.
Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, 7:00pm vs Kitchener Rangers (RogersTV – 53, CHLtv)
The Attack will welcome the Rangers to the Bayshore for a game against their divisional rival. The Rangers are (7-3) in their last 10 games, and have slowly lost ground in the Western Conference race. They will be eager to turn the tides and pull ahead of the Greyhounds. Star forward Carson Rehkopf recently scored his 50th goal on the season while Matthew Sop is now at 37. Keeping these two off the scoreboard will be a difficult task, but an important one if the Attack want to take down the Rangers. The Attack will rely on their scoring depth to put them ahead of the Rangers on Wednesday night. Guindon (G23), McCue (G19), and Petrovsky (G16) will all look to make a difference and provide scoring depth.
Saturday, March 9th, 2024, 7:00pm, & Sunday March 10th, 4:00 vs Erie Otters (RogersTV – 53, CHLtv)
After a couple days off, the Attack will head into Erie for back to back games. These games are perhaps some of the most important for the Attack this season. The Otters currently sit one point ahead of Owen Sound headed into this week. The Attack could potentially earn 4 points while also denying the Otters of 4 points themselves. This weekend tilt could be difference between 5th in the conference, or just squeezing by at 7th. The Otters are (5-4-0-1) in their last 10 games played. The Otters are led by forwards, Fimis (G21, A39), Spence (G19, A41), and Terrance (G29, A23). Otters goaltenders rostered for this weekend are Gaudreau (.889sv%) and Gibbons (.826sv%). Rostered goaltenders for the Attack this weekend are George (.913sv%), Votary (.850sv%), and Koprowski (.875sv%).
