HISTORY
Owen Sound is a city in southwestern Ontario, located on the shores of Georgian Bay. Known for its scenic waterfront, rich marine history, and vibrant cultural scene, Owen Sound has long been a hub for industry and commerce in Grey County. The city’s OHL franchise traces its roots to the Guelph Platers, who relocated to Owen Sound for the 1989–90 season, initially keeping the Platers name. In 2000, the team rebranded as the Owen Sound Attack, marking a new era of hockey in the city. The Attack captured their first OHL championship in 2011, solidifying their reputation as a team built on perseverance, community support, and a commitment to developing elite hockey talent.
As the smallest market in the OHL and the second smallest in the CHL, Owen Sound stands out for its unwavering fan support. EDUCATION
Current Owen Sound Attack high school players attend Owen Sound District Secondary School, where they balance academics with their hockey commitments. ARENA
The Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre is the home of the Owen Sound Attack, located along the scenic shores of Georgian Bay. Opened in 1983 and named after Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Harry Lumley, the facility features a 3,500-seat arena, a fitness centre, and community spaces. Owned by the City of Owen Sound, the Bayshore has hosted notable events, including the OHL Championship series, the CHL Canada/Russia Series, and various Ontario Winter Games competitions.

For the most part, players live within 10 minutes of one another, creating a close-knit environment that fosters team bonding. This setup helps streamline their hockey, personal, and academic commitments, making life more manageable both on and off the ice.
SPECIAL EVENTS
The Owen Sound Attack host several special events that bring players, staff, and fans together while strengthening community connections. A Town Hall with the GM and coaches offers fans the chance to engage in open discussions about the team. Bus trips with the Fan Club provide an exciting way for supporters to travel together and cheer on the Attack at away games. Following Sunday home games, fans can take to the ice for a post-game skate with the team, creating memorable experiences for all involved.
