Brandon Shaw Named Assistant Coach for Attack
The Owen Sound Attack have recently named Brandon Shaw as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2024-25 hockey season.
Shaw began his career in the hockey verse as an analyst (2014-15) for the Hamilton Bulldog. Years to come, he would go the the GOJHL working for the Cambridge Winter Hawks (2015-17) as an assistant coach/video coach, but would spend most of his career (2017-2022) in the BCHL for teams such as the Merritt Centennials (Scout, Assistant Coach, Dir. of Scouting), Alberni Valley Bulldogs (Assistant Coach, Dir. of Player Development) and and the Coquitlam Express as the Head Coach.
Shaw says he is excited to begin working with the Attack. “The Bayshore is known for its amazing atmosphere, and the fans are incredible.”
Most recently, Shaw comes from the Niagara IceDogs as the Assistant Coach, working with the team from 2022-24.
“I’d like to thank Dale, Scott and the Attack’s ownership for the opportunity to work with such a historic franchise in the OHL. I’d also like to thank Shanna (my fiancée), my family and my friends for their unwavering support as I pursue a career in the sport I love. I think this group has a lot of potential and I look forward to growing as a team over the coming years.”
Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray, says after speaking to those who had close ties to Brandon he knew that Shaw coming to the Attack Organization was a ‘very good fit’ for the new season ahead.
” We would like to congratulate and welcome Brandon and his fiancée Shanna to the organization. Brandon’s name kept coming up time and time again for people who I spoke with. After speaking with him, I knew he was a coach we had to consider.”
Head Coach, Scott Wray says he’s excited to have Brandon join the staff team of the Attack.
“Everyone I talked to about Brandon has the same response: he is a good communicator, great with the players and does a great job breaking down videos. I was able to form a bit of a relationship over the last season with Brandon as he was on the bench with my son in Niagara. I feel that familiarity with him will be valuable starting a new season as a staff.”
“I am excited to get to know the Owen Sound community. The Bayshore is known for its amazing atmosphere, and the fans are incredible. I am eager to start the season and to get to work with the players. The OHL is the best development league in the world, and Owen Sound has had a lot of success in player development. Looking forward to getting started!”
