Attack Win 6-3 in a Long Awaited Victory
The Attack were back on ice this past Saturday February 24th to face off against the Windsor Spitfires. With the previous four games being a difficult run, the Attack pushed hard to find recovery, throughout the game earning them a 6-3 victory over the Spitfires. Leading the advance would be Landen Hookey and Ethan Burroughs, both with two goals each, followed by Servac Petrovsky and Colby Barlow with one goal each. In net for the Attack was Carter George making 35 saves during play.
The first period would begin with a series of fast plays and strategic placements of players by both teams. Windsor would open the scoring early in the first period, and the Attack would answer with a goal of their own minutes after. The score was now 1-1 and the competitive nature of play grew. With under 5 minutes remaining in the period, Barlow would make a backhanded pass to Burroughs in front of the Spitfires net, who would sink the puck into the back of their net. This victory would not last long as the Spitfires would rebound a surprise shot on George, now tying the score at 2-2.
A new period and new ambition would come to the Bayshore. Play would seemingly be in the Bears’ territory, but not for long as Petrovsky would find a break away opportunity. Racing down the ice with Barlow close by, the two Attack players would force the hand of the Spitfire’s net minder. As Windsor’s goalie would go to retrieve the puck, Petrovsky would make fast action grabbing the puck, scoring with a wrap around shot. Setting up for another go, Deni Goure would make a beautiful pass to Burroughs tipping the puck into the corner of the Spitfires’ net. The Attack were now up two more goals, as the score was now 4-2 Attack.
The final period would bring even more for the Attack as right off the bat, as they pounced into action at puck drop. Braedyn Rogers would find the puck at the blue-line, sending it forward to Hookey. Hookey, bodying his way into the net would bring his second goal of the night for the Attack under 5 minutes into the third period. Finding inspiration, Barlow would follow suit, with a signature one timer shot, straight into the Spitfires net. The score was now 6-2 Attack. Late in the period, the Spitfires would find another goal but it would not effect the overall score as the Attack had already solidified their spot. A long awaited victory for the Attack was made.
