Attack Ride Hot Power Play to 6 – 4 Friday Night Win
It is no secret that the Attack have been in a tough week of games. Traveling down to Sarnia, the team was prep and ready for the battle out on the ice, looking for a new wave of redemption. With a final score of Attack 6 – 4 Sting the Attack found just that.
The game againts the Sting was a fast-paced start, the Attack and the Sting went head to head in a battle of the blades. A quick play goal by Attack #11 Cedrick Guindon was made within the first few minutes of play, marking the first goal of the night as well as his 9th goal for the 2023 – 2024 season. Feeling the heat, the Sting stung back with a quick revenge goal tying the score early in the period.
Attack’s #30, Corbin Votary, held fast to the net as many shots were attempted by the Sting. With the action deep in Bear territory, Barlow, Burroughs and Sedley managed to grab the puck bringing the play to the other side of the rink. In the thick of the mad dash, the puck was shot by Burroughs, lost, and reemerged behind the Sting Goal Tender bouncing into the net.
Second Period was a constant back of forth of both teams fighting hard to gain control of the puck to bring home victory for their team. With play being brought closer and closer to the Sting’s net, Barlow makes a grand attempt towards the net, but the shot was caught last minute by the Sting Goaltender.
Sting scored in the last quarter of the second period, right after the first few seconds of their power play. With not five minutes between the last goal, the sting managed to shoot yet again into the top left corner of the Attack’s net sneaking past Attack’s Goalie Corbin Votary. For the first time of the night, the Sting gained their first pull ahead. The pressure was on.
With only the third period to go anticipation was high. The Sting made a last period decision to pull their goalie bringing 6 players onto the ice. With no goalie in sight, Attack #7 Goure took full advantage shooting from middle ice into straight into the Stings net with less than minute left of play.
