Attack Stumble Against the Rangers 9-2
The Attack began their stretch of three games in three days, Friday night as they made their way to Kitchener for a 7:00 game. The game did not go the way the Attack hoped it would as they fell to the Rangers 9-2. Sam McCue would be the lone goalscorer for the Attack, and Votary would make a valiant effort backstopping the Attack for 35 saves on the night.
The first period began slow for the Attack as they struggled to keep up with the buzzing Rangers. The Rangers would not allow the Attack any space, and would be all over the team in the first period. The Rangers would strike quick off a goal from Ellinas, only 2 minutes into the game. The Rangers would continue to smother the Attack as they pressured Attack goaltender Corbin Votary, who held strong until the 10 minute mark where the Rangers would score on the power play. The Rangers would score one more before the period ended, outshooting the Attack 23-3 where Votary would stop all but three.
The second period opened with a quick power play goal for the Rangers making the score 4-0. The second period would be better for the Attack as they would find their legs and push back against the Rangers, but Parsons would shut the door and keep Owen Sound off the board. Kitchener would continue their attack and push hard on the power play for two goals off of Sam Sedley’s 5 minute major that he received late in the second period.
The third period would begin with the Rangers striking early again making the game 7-0. The Attack would push back shortly after as Sam McCue would put the team on the board. He would strike again just two minutes later for his 22nd of the season. The rest of the game would consist of some back and forth action where the Rangers would get there better of the Attack and score another two goals making the final score 9-2.
The Attack will be back in action against the Soo Greyhounds Saturday night for a 7:00 start.
