Attack Shutout in Full Game Effort
For the first time in recent games the Owen Sound Attack played a full 60 minute game, but were on the wrong end of an excellent goaltending performance by Erie Otters Nolan LaLonde, as the Otters skated away with a 2-0 win Wednesday night at the Bayshore.
In a night were the Attack dominated puck possession and offensive chances the story quickly became about LaLonde, as he looked sharp and on his game right from the first shot on goal. At the other end of the ice Attack rookie Carter George got the nod between the pipes, and was equally as solid though not as busy. The only puck to gt by George came just over six minutes into the action, when the Otters broke down on a 3-on-2 rush and having the centring pass deflect in of a back checking Attack player’s skate.
The goose egg on the scoreboard was definetely not for lack of trying on Owen Sound’s part as they directed a total of 44 shots on LaLonde with countless others not getting to the net through traffic or missing wide. As the lineup got shaken up it was a new look top line of Cedrick Guindon between Ethan Burroughs and Servac Petrovsky that led the charge for the Bears, as they equated for half of the Attack’s shots on net combining for 22.
Though not the outcome Owen Sound wanted there was a positive to be taken from Wednesday night’s action, as they played with speed and determination to go along with their creativity and skill. As long as the Bears continue to show up with the same game and effort as Wednesday night the wins will follow in short order.
Owen Sound doesn’t have long until they can get back on the ice as they travel south to Kitchener Friday night for another divisional match-up against the rival Rangers at the Aud. Fans can catch the action on Rogers TV , the CHL TV app or listen live on 560 CFOS Bears Radio.
