Attack Officially Wrap 2022-23 Season with Awards BBQ
On Sunday the Owen Sound Attack officially wrapped their 2022-23 OHL season by honouring the players with the annual Awards Banquet and BBQ.
The day began with the players and prospects splitting into four teams for an inter squad baseball tournament. With the team names honouring four past Attack captains with Team Snyder, Team Ryan, Team Maltby and Team Wilson. It was Team Snyder coming out victorious and having bragging rights over their teammates, and avoid the task of serving food and drinks at the BBQ.
The Award Banquet began with a bit more of a somber mood than normal, as the Attack organization honoured the late Ray McKelvie, and his family by having past Ray McKelvie Award winners present a special jersey to Ray’s son Scott and his grandson Mark. The Ray McKelvie Award has always been given to the Attack’s first round selection from that years OHL Priority Selection Draft. Ray was an integral part in bringing and keeping OHL hockey in Owen Sound, and the organization will continue to honour his legacy, as he may be gone but Ray will never be forgotten.
It was then time to honour the players of present and future, with the day beginning having Nico Addy receive the Ray McKelvie award, before the entire 2023 OHL Draft Class was honoured. As the day progressed a few players heard their names multiple times for awards with Colby Barlow (3) leading the way and Nolan Seed (2) and Ethan Burroughs (2) also receiving multiple award.
As always the day is a chance for the Attack prospects to visit the city and mingle with current players in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
