Attack Offence Comes to Life in 10-2 Win over IceDogs
The Owen Sound Attack hit the ice for the first time after the Christmas break taking home a 10-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Leading the way for the Attack was overage forward, Deni Goure who’s 8 point night, 3 goals and 5 assists, set an Attack franchise record for most points in a single game. Also hitting the score sheet for the Attack were Ethan Burroughs (2 goals ,4 assists) and Jake Crawford (2 goal sand 2 assists). Sam Sedley, Declan Waddick and Antonio Tersigni also scored, while Carter George made 38 saves for the victory.
Goure opened the scoring midway through the first period, off a nice pass from Crawford. Shortly after that, Goure pushed his way to the IceDogs’ net scoring his second goal of the night, increasing the Attack lead to 2-0. Both teams battled the rest of the period, with the IceDogs’ Netminder Owen Flores and Attack Netminder George making key saves to keep the score 2-0 heading into the break.
Both teams continued to battle early in the second period. Shortly after a highlight reel save by Flores, the Attack capitalized on a long shot, off the stick of Sam Sedley to make it 3-0. Strong play continued on both sides, until just under two minutes left in the second period when George made a highlight reel save. Under a minute later, Burroughs finished a nice pass in play from Goure to make it 4-0 heading into the third period.
Brody Crane, broke the Attack shutout early in the third period. Shortly after, the floodgates opened for the Attack scoring 6 goals in a ten minute span including one by Waddick, Goure’s third of the night, Burroughs second of the night, 2 by Crawford and Tersigni’s first of the season. Broson Ride scored a late goal for the IceDogs bringing the final score to 10-2.
The Attack will now turn their attention to their second game in four days when the Kitchener Rangers visit the Bayshore on Saturday, December 30 at 7pm.
