2024 OHL Priority Selection Preview
The 2023-24 season ended rather abruptly after an early playoff exit at the hands of the Saginaw Spirit. While the season did not end the way most would have hoped for, there is a lot to look forward to in the future of Attack Hockey. The Attack have a cupboard full of picks, 16 in fact, for the upcoming 2024 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore that begins this Friday (April 12th) at 7pm. With the second day of the draft occurring on Saturday, the 13th, starting at 9am. The Attack head into the draft with sixteen picks, five of them coming in the first four rounds. Attack fans can catch the draft on OHL Live, or follow the Attack on social media @attackohl. Fans are also welcome to watch the draft live at the bayshore at the Attack Pak draft party!
Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray feels comfortable with where the team is at currently with goaltending, stating that the first round pick will not be a goaltender. He stated ‘Right now we’re looking at taking the best player, and that’s best suited for us this year.’ He added ‘We could really use a defenceman, we could also really use a forward.’
When asked about his recent trade with the Oshawa generals that sent a 2026 fourth round pick and a 2027 second round pick their way, in exchange for a 2024 second round pick, Dale stated ‘Where we’re picking at seven, then not picking until the third round, we decided we would have to watch a lot of really good players be taken and we weren’t going to be able to be part of it’.
