Binnington Gets Call to Prospects Game
The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that sophomore goaltender Jordan Binnington has been selected to play in the 2011 CHL Home Hardware Top Prospects game that will be held from January 18th and 19th in Toronto.
Binnington, a native of Richmond Hill, ON. has posted an impressive 11-8-0-2 record on the season with a 3.07 GAA and an .894 save percentage in 22 appearances this season and has started 12 consecutive games for the Attack dating back to November 24th.
“This is a tremendous honor for Jordan and the Attack organization.”, stated General Manager Dale DeGray. “Jordan has tremendous athleticism and an unflappable demeanor. It is very easy to see why scouts think highly of him.”
Binnington’s first honor of the season came earlier this fall when he was ranked #1 amongst OHL Goaltenders by NHL Central Scouting and has since assumed the #1 goaltender role for the Attack since New York Rangers prospect Scott Stajcer was sidelined in November with a lower body injury.
The 2011 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will mark the 16th annual showcase of the CHL’s top-40 NHL draft eligible players featuring talent from the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The two-day event also features an exciting skills competition and three-on-three challenge taking place on Tuesday January 18, 2011.
The event returns to Toronto for the fifth time in 16 years and the first time since Air Canada Centre played host in 2000. Maple Leaf Gardens hosted the first three straight events beginning in 1996.
