Winterhawks capture 2024 U.S. Division title
For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Portland Winterhawks have won the U.S. Division regular-season title! The win marks Portland’s sixth U.S. Division title and 15th total division title in team history. In four of those seasons, the Winterhawks went on to win the Scotty Munro Trophy as regular-season champions.
The Winterhawks sealed a top-two seed in the Western Conference for the 2024 WHL Playoffs after defeating the Wenatchee Wild 5-3 on Saturday night. Portland’s current record of 46-15-2-1 (95 pts) has them in the driver’s seat for the top spot in the west, trailing Prince George by one point but with a game in hand to close the gap. Four games remain in Portland’s 2023-24 campaign, including the regular-season home finale on Saturday, March 23 against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
The 2024 WHL Playoffs open on March 29 and 30 at the VMC as the Winterhawks host an opponent still to be determined.
