Pats Host Broncos In 2026 Home Opener Sunday
Regina, Sask. — The Regina Pats will open the home portion of their 2026-27 schedule on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Swift Current Broncos to the Brandt Centre for a 2 p.m. matchup.

The Pats enter the home opener with a 0-1-0-1 record after earning a point in Friday’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings at Assiniboine Credit Union Place. Regina fell behind 2-0 before battling back to tie the game, with Ellis Mieyette scoring once and adding an assist, while Ossi Tukio scored his first WHL goal to help the Pats force overtime. Taylor Tabashniuk made 21 saves in the contest, which required nine rounds of the shootout to determine a winner. Regina finished the night with a 42-23 advantage in shots and went 0-for-4 on the power play while successfully killing off all three Brandon opportunities.
The Broncos arrive in Regina with a perfect 2-0-0 record after opening their season with a pair of home victories. Swift Current picked up a 4-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday, with Zach Pantelakis leading the offence with two goals. Jacob Beaulieu and Hudson Kowalchuk each scored the first WHL goals of their careers, while goaltender Cal Conway stopped 30 of 32 shots to preserve the victory. Sunday marks Swift Current’s first road game of the season and the first meeting between the East Division rivals this year.
Regina posted a 4-2-0 record against the Broncos last season, scoring seven goals in three of its four victories. The Pats are 13-9-0-2 against Swift Current over the last five seasons, including a 4-6-0-2 mark at the Brandt Centre and a 9-3-0-0 record in Swift Current. Sunday’s game begins a six-game season series between the two clubs.
The Pats will look to end a two-game home-opening skid, having dropped last year’s home opener 6-4 to Prince Albert after falling 5-1 to Brandon in 2024-25. The last time Regina hosted Swift Current for its home opener was September 19, 2013, when the Broncos earned a 7-2 victory.
WHO TO WATCH
For the Pats, Ellis Mieyette enters Sunday’s home opener as Regina’s leading scorer through two games, recording four points on two goals and two assists. The 20-year-old forward has contributed offensively in both games to begin the season, including a goal and an assist in Friday’s shootout loss in Brandon.
Former Pats forward Zach Pantelakis has made an immediate impact for the Broncos to start the season, recording three points through two games on two goals and one assist. Pantelakis scored twice in Friday’s 4-2 win over Moose Jaw, helping Swift Current improve to 2-0-0.
COMING UP
Following Sunday’s home opener, the Pats will head to Alberta for a two-game road trip. Regina will visit the Edmonton Oil Kings on October 2 before travelling to Calgary to face the Hitmen on October 4. The Pats then return to the Brandt Centre on Friday, October 9, when they host the Prince Albert Raiders.
