Colts acquire Stars prospect Brad Gardiner
The Barrie Colts added a well-established OHL centreman in Dallas Stars third round pick Brad Gardiner on Monday. The Colts dealt a second round pick in 2026 (Saginaw’s), second round pick in 2028, third round pick in 2027 (Kitchener’s) and fourth round pick in 2025 (Kitchener’s) to the Ottawa 67’s, completing the deal.
“Brad Gardiner is someone we watched often in U16 playing for the York Simcoe Express,” said Colts Head Coach and General Manager Marty Williamson. “He’s proven himself to be a reliable two-way centreman in our league. We’re excited about adding Brad’s skillset, leadership, and experience to our group.”
A product of Aurora, Ont., Gardiner comes off a 49-point season with the 67’s, recording 16 goals and 33 assists over 67 games. He joins fellow Dallas Stars prospects in newcomer Emil Hemming and the recently acquired Tristan Bertucci in Barrie.
Originally a third round (40th overall) pick by Ottawa in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, Gardiner is the son of former NHL forward Bruce Gardiner, who played six seasons between Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Columbus and New Jersey from 1996-2002. The more senior Gardiner was also a member of the Barrie Colts prior to their OHL days, suiting up in the COJHL from 1988-90.
