NHL Debut: Cole Beaudoin (Oct. 6, 2026)
Former Barrie Colts forward Cole Beaudoin is set to make his NHL debut tonight with the New York Rangers.
Originally selected 24th overall by the Utah Mammoth in the 2024 NHL Draft, Beaudoin had his rights acquired by New York during an offseason trade and was recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) earlier this afternoon. In his first two career AHL games with the Wolf Pack, he recorded five points (1-4–5).
Beaudoin played four seasons with the Barrie Colts, recording 222 points (91-131–222) in 263 regular-season games, including a career-high 89 points (33-56–89) in 2025-26. He served as the Colts’ co-captain last season after wearing an “A” in each of the previous two campaigns.
En route to Barrie’s appearance in the 2025-26 OHL Championship Series, Beaudoin led the postseason with 29 points, including a league-high 19 assists.
Following his standout 2025-26 season, the 6-foot-2 forward was named to the CHL Third All-Star Team and was recognized as the CHL Sportsman Player of the Year. In the OHL Coaches Poll, the 20-year-old from Kanata, Ont., led all Eastern Conference players with four first-place finishes, earning top honours as the hardest worker, best defensive forward, best on faceoffs and best penalty killer.
Internationally, Beaudoin represented Team Canada at back-to-back IIHF World Junior Championships. Serving as an alternate captain at the 2026 tournament, he recorded seven points (3-4–7) in seven games.
