OHL Power Rankings: Oct. 5, 2026
Who’s up:
Guelph Storm – up one spot to #1 this week
The Storm take over the top spot on the strength of four straight wins. Guelph built a 3-0 lead and held off Windsor 4-2 on Friday, with Tyler Hopkins scoring twice and Ryan Roobroeck collecting the 200th point of his OHL career, then blanked rival Kitchener 6-0 on Sunday behind six different goal scorers. Zach Jovanovski has been the story: a second consecutive shutout gives him 120 minutes of perfect hockey to open 2026-27. Hopkins earned first-star honours on Sunday with a goal and an assist, and Roobroeck has scored in three straight games. An 0-2 start feels like a long time ago, and at 4-2-0-0 the preseason favourites are at the top of the list where most expected them to be.
Sudbury Wolves – up one spot to #2 this week
The Wolves are the last unbeaten team in the league at 5-0-0-0, the best start in franchise history. Sudbury had one game and made it count, burying Niagara 7-1 on Friday with a six-goal third period. Jean-Cristoph Lemieux scored two power-play goals and added two assists as the Wolves went 5-for-7 on the man advantage, Adam Nemec put up a goal and four assists, and Jan Chovan added a goal and three helpers. Paolo Frasca stopped 30 of 31. One game is a thin week’s work, but nobody has beaten this team yet. Next up, a trip to North Bay on Thursday.
Brantford Bulldogs – up one spot to #3 this week
The perfect run ended Sunday and the Bulldogs still move up. Brantford needed a shootout to get past winless Brampton 5-4 on Friday while being outshot 48-28, then went 3-for-6 on the power play in a 6-3 win over North Bay on Saturday despite a 44-26 shot disadvantage. Jason Musa scored twice in each of those games and pulled into the OHL goal-scoring lead with eight, while Aiden Kelly piled up a goal and five assists across the weekend. Sunday brought a 3-0 loss in Owen Sound and the end of a seven-game winning streak. At 7-1-0-0 with the league’s best goal differential Brantford has earned the benefit of the doubt, but being outshot badly in both wins is worth noting.
Flint Firebirds – up one spot to #4 this week
Flint’s 7-2 win in London on Sunday was the big result of the week. The Firebirds outshot the Knights 35-24 and went 3-for-7 on the power play to end London’s undefeated start, with Jimmy Lombardi collecting a goal and four assists for a five-point night and Darian Anderson adding a goal and two helpers. Charlie Murata scored twice, blueliners Lucas Nutting and Luka Graziano each registered a goal and an assist, and Liam Edgcumbe made 22 saves for his first OHL win. Flint also dropped a 3-2 decision at home to the Soo on Saturday, and at 3-2-0-0 that is the only thing keeping the Firebirds from a bigger jump.
Ottawa 67’s – up two spots to #6 this week
Ten goals for, two against, and a weekend sweep. The Barber Poles answered last Sunday’s 10-3 loss with a 4-1 win in Oshawa on Friday behind Jaeden Nelson’s 29 saves, then scored six times after a scoreless first period to beat Erie 6-1 on Saturday while outshooting the Otters 38-24. Nelson won on back-to-back nights, Nic Whitehead, Brayden Krawczyk and Ondrej Ruml each scored their first of the season, and Chase Yanni collected three assists on Saturday. Ottawa sits at 3-1-1-0.
Soo Greyhounds – up five spots to #7 this week
The biggest riser of the week, and the Hounds did it on the road. The Soo spoiled opening night in Sarnia on Jordan Charron’s goal 26 seconds from the end of overtime on Friday, then went into Flint and held on for a 3-2 win on the strength of three first-period goals. Colin Fitzgerald scored in both games, Ryan Kaczynski potted his seventh of the season, and David Vermirovsky made 23 saves for his first OHL win a night after Landon Miller stopped 31 of 34. The red hot Hounds have won five of six and climbed seven spots in two weeks.
Owen Sound Attack – up one spot to #13 this week
Ryerson Leenders picked the right day for some of his best work of the young season. The Attack ended Brantford’s perfect start with a 3-0 shutout on Sunday, Leenders turning aside 32 shots against his former club, with Wesley Royston, Max Delisle and captain Pierce Mbuyi scoring. That snapped a four-game losing skid that had included a 4-1 home loss to Windsor on Saturday, where Maksim Corovic made 34 saves in his Attack debut. At 2-4-0-0 with 11 goals in six games the offence is still the problem, but beating the team with the league’s best record counts for something.
Windsor Spitfires – up three spots to #14 this week
Welcome back to the Top-16. Windsor won two of three and got some saves along the way, as Jake Windbiel stopped 15 of 17 in a 3-2 win over North Bay on Thursday and Michael Newlove stopped 20 of 21 in a 4-1 win in Owen Sound on Saturday, where the Spits outshot the Attack 38-21. Bogdan Yakushevsky scored in all three games, including the shorthanded winner on Thursday, and Michal Svrcek netted his first OHL marker. A 4-2 loss in Guelph on Friday was the only blemish. At 3-3-1-0 the Spitfires are back in the conversation after being picked 15th in the preseason poll.
Who’s down:
London Knights – down four spots to #5 this week
The undefeated start is over, and it ended emphatically. London survived being outshot 39-21 in a 4-1 win over North Bay on Friday thanks to a 38-save, first-star performance from Aleksei Medvedev, then was beaten 7-2 at home by Flint on Sunday. Marcus Nordmark scored his first OHL goal on Friday and Juho Piiparinen scored the first of his career on Sunday. Being outshot in both games is the thread worth pulling at here. At 4-1-0-0 the Knights are still in good shape, and the drop reflects two uneven performances rather than one bad night. They host Erie on Friday.
Saginaw Spirit – down two spots to #8 this week
Saginaw took three of four points and still slides a spot, which is what happens when the teams around you win outright. The Spirit lost 4-3 in overtime in Kitchener on Friday, outshot 31-16, with Braidy Wassilyn scoring twice, then edged Brampton 3-2 on a power-play goal 33 seconds from the end of overtime on Saturday. Dima Zhilkin had two goals and an assist in that one, including the winner. Wassilyn has now scored in six consecutive games and has seven on the season. At 2-2-2-0 the Spirit have taken points in four of their six games.
Kingston Frontenacs – down two spots to #9 this week
A split, but the manner of it keeps Kingston sliding. The Frontenacs snapped a three-game skid by building a 5-1 lead through 40 minutes and beating Peterborough 5-3 on Friday, with Matthew Minchak making 43 saves and Nolan Snyder and Nolan Buttar scoring 21 seconds apart. Matthew Henderson, Andre Mondoux and Adam Kelly each scored their first of the season in that one. Sunday was an 8-6 home loss to Erie in a 14-goal game, with Aleks Kulemin scoring twice and Kingston going 3-for-8 on the power play. At 3-4-0-0 the Fronts have allowed 37 goals in seven games, the most in the league.
Peterborough Petes – down two spots to #11 this week
The Petes got the best goaltending performance of their season and could not build on it. Hometown product Masen Johnston made 32 saves for his first OHL shutout in a 4-0 win over Erie on Thursday, with Lucas Karmiris scoring his first as a Pete in his long-awaited debut and Adam Novotny, Yanis Lutz and Leon Kolarik rounding out the scoring. Friday in Kingston was a 5-3 loss in which Peterborough trailed 5-1 after 40 minutes, though Mason Minsky’s first OHL goal and an assist were a bright spot. At 2-5-0-0 the Petes split the week, and the slide is as much about the Soo and Ottawa climbing past them as anything Peterborough did.
Kitchener Rangers – down one spot to #12 this week
Three straight wins, and then the floor fell out. The defending Memorial Cup champions got their third in a row on Friday, when Luca Santala tied the game with 1:53 left in regulation and won it 10 seconds into overtime to beat Saginaw 4-3, with Luca Romano, Alexander Bilecki and Alex Forrest each collecting two assists and Kitchener outshooting the Spirit 31-16. Sunday in Guelph was a 6-0 loss on just 19 shots against Zach Jovanovski while the Rangers lost captain Andrew MacNiel to injury. At 4-3-0-0 with an even goal differential, the Rangers are still finding their level.
North Bay Battalion – down three spots to #16 this week
An 0-3 road trip, and the Troops barely hold a spot. North Bay lost 3-2 in Windsor on Thursday, was beaten 4-1 in London on Friday while outshooting the Knights 39-21, then fell 6-3 in Brantford on Saturday after outshooting the Bulldogs 44-26. Evgeny Dubrovtsev scored in all three games, his club-leading sixth coming Saturday, when Shamar Moses scored twice. Outshooting the opposition three nights running and losing all three is a hard way to spend a week. At 2-5-0-0, the Troops will try and translate positive shot clock results into points in the standings.
Oshawa Generals – down one spot and off the list this week
Two home games, two losses. Oshawa fell 4-1 to Ottawa on Friday, with Aiden O’Donnell providing the lone goal and Jaden Cholette making 31 saves, then was shut out 3-0 by Sarnia on Sunday, where Cruz Reznik stopped 22 of 24 in his Generals debut. The Generals managed one goal across the two nights and sit 3-4-0-0. With Windsor climbing back onto the list, that was enough to cost Oshawa the final spot.
Holding steady:
Sarnia Sting – holds at #10 this week
A 1-2 week with a point in it, and no movement. Sarnia lost 4-3 in overtime to the Soo on opening night at home on Friday, then was beaten 5-3 in Barrie on Saturday despite a 56-28 shot advantage, running into 53 saves from Matvei Nikonovich. Sunday was better: Ivan Tkach-Tkachenko made 35 saves for his first OHL shutout and Easton Walos scored twice in a 3-0 win in Oshawa, leaving the Sting 4-2-1-0.
Erie Otters – holds at #15 this week
The Otters were shut out and then blown out before salvaging the week in Kingston. Erie lost 4-0 in Peterborough on Thursday and 6-1 in Ottawa on Saturday, then won an 8-6 track meet on Sunday behind two third-period goals from Liam Beamish and a four-point night from Michael Dec. Liam Karbowski made 25 saves for his first OHL win and Luka Arkko scored his first OHL goal. At 3-2-1-0 the week nets out evenly enough to leave Erie where it was.
