Generals acquire veteran forward Therrien from Attack
The Oshawa Generals have acquired overage forward Jacob Therrien from the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for two conditional selections in the 2030 OHL Priority Selection.
Owen Sound receives Oshawa’s 10th-round selection in 2030, which will become Brantford’s fourth-round selection in 2029 should Therrien play 30 games with the Generals during the 2026-27 regular season and playoffs. The Attack will also receive Oshawa’s fifth-round selection in 2030 should Therrien score 30 goals during the same period.
A native of Courtice, ON, Therrien is entering his fifth OHL season, having spent three seasons with the North Bay Battalion before joining Owen Sound ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
The 20-year-old forward has appeared in 175 career OHL regular season games, recording 46 goals and 47 assists for 93 points. He has also contributed seven goals and five assists for 12 points in 21 postseason contests.
The move brings Therrien closer to his hometown and personal support network, something the Attack identified as a priority in facilitating the transaction.
“Whenever you make a trade involving a player, there are a lot of factors that go into the decision, but in this situation, Jacob needs to be close to his family and the medical support team that he has been working with over the last year with assistance from our organization,” said Attack President and General Manager Tyler Nother. “The Oshawa Generals allow Jacob the best possible chance at continuing his career at home with his family in the Ontario Hockey League, and we made this trade strictly based on what was best for him as a young man.”
Therrien adds an experienced offensive presence to the Generals’ forward group, returning to the Durham Region area as he continues his OHL career.
The Attack thanked Therrien for his contributions to the organization and the Owen Sound community, wishing him continued success in Oshawa.
