Monday Morning Buzz | Sting Reclaim Top Spot in OHL Standings
It has been four straight weeks for the Sarnia Sting as the number one team in the Canadian Hockey League.
On Wednesday, the Sting visited the Flint Firebirds for the Ontario Hockey League’s annual “School Day Special”. Flint did take the game by a final score of 5-3, but it sparked a fire under the Sting as they headed into the weekend.
On Friday night, the Sting hosted the Windsor Spitfires at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. Though the Spitfires had a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission, coming out of the break, the Sting were in control for the majority of the night. Sarnia forward Anthony Salinitri had a hat-trick in his two-hundredth career OHL game, and the Sting dropped Windsor by a final score of 6-3.

On Sunday, the Sting wrapped up their weekend by stopping in to see the Guelph Storm at the Sleeman Centre. This was a see-saw game all evening long. Back and forth they went, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, before the Sting won 4-3 in overtime. Adam Ruzicka had two goals, including the overtime winner.

Sting Says
Anthony Salinitri spoke following his two-hundredth game on Friday, a 6-3 win over Windsor.
On the hat-trick:
“It felt good. My linemates did a really good job tonight finding me. We did a lot of the little things right. We were playing hard, we were playing fast, we were playing our game, and things worked out for me.”
On the team’s recent success:
“We’re playing well. [Coach Derian Hatcher] is stressing to do the little things right, get pucks in, get pucks out, no turnovers. Backcheck hard, forecheck hard. We’ve been doing that. We’ve all played together so we know each other.”
On playing 200 games in the OHL:
“It doesn’t feel like I’ve played 200 games. It felt like last year I was still playing for the Soo and just drafted. Time goes by quick. You just have to enjoy every game and play your hardest.”
