Spitfires Down Sting 3-1
Windsor, ON Thursday night the Sting traveled to Windsor to take on the Spitfires in a match up of West Division rivals. Unfortunately for the Sting it would be an unsuccessful night dropping a 3-1 decision to the surging Spitfires.
The Sting would be the first to get on the board scoring their only goal of the game at 9:00 of the first period when Chris Chimienti would take a feed from Brad Efthimiou and beat Spitfires goaltender Ryan Knechtel making it 1-0 for the Sting.
Unfortunately it would be all Spitfires after the Chimienti goal. Jason Dixon would knot the score at one when he slid one past Sting goaltender Ryan Munce at 17:16 of the period. Sending the two teams to the first intermission tied 1-1.
Following a scoreless second period the Spits would come out firing in the third. It was their offensive leader John Scott Dickson who would be the difference scoring his 25th and 26th goals leading Windsor to the 3-1 win.
Ryan Munce was strong in net for the Sting despite the loss making several big saves and was named the games second star.
The Sting will head down the 402 Friday night to take on the London Knights. Following an off day on Saturday, the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds will be in town on Sunday for a 6:00 puck drop.
