Frontenacs announce Leadership Group for 2026-27 Season
Kingston, ON – Troy Mann and the rest of the Frontenacs coaching staff have announced their leadership group for the 2026-27 OHL season.
Returning as captain for the upcoming season is Vann Williamson who will be joined by newly minted alternate captains André Mondoux and Tomas Pobezal.
After being named captian following the 2026 trade deadline, Williamson enters the 2026-27 season as the team’s longest tenured player, having established himself as an important presence both on and off the ice. Williamson has been a member of the Frontenacs his entire OHL career, and he returns to the Frontenacs to begin his overage season as captain. His experience and commitment to the Frontenacs will be relied upon as Kingston enters the new season.
“I’m excited to be back in Kingston this season,” said Williamson. “I was incredibly honoured to be named captain after the deadline last season and we’ve got a great group of guys this season. We’re all on the same page working towards the same goal and it’s going to be a fun season.”
Mondoux is entering his 19-year old season after being drafted by the New York Rangers in the 2026 NHL Draft; originally being drafted by the Frontenacs in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. A late bloomer, Mondoux had his first full season with the Frontenacs in 2025-26, emerging as a force on the blueline. Now with a younger team around him, Mondoux will be relied upon to be a leader on the backend.
Back for his overage season, Pobezal is entering his second season with the Frontenacs and quickly became a favourite among his teammates and fans. The Slovak forward brings a strong two-way game, high compete level and veteran presence to the Kingston lineup. After making the transition to North American hockey last season, Pobezal continued to grow into a key role with the Frontenacs earning the trust of the coaching staff and becoming a reliable presence in all situations, and will be a welcome voice to the leadership group.
“As a coaching staff we were incredibly happy with Vann after we named him captain last season,” said Troy Mann. “He was an excellent extension of the coaching staff to the rest of the team and led by example for our young group. Having Vann back this year is massive for us, and now pairing him alongside Mondoux and Pobezal gives us three very capable and reliable voices in our room.”
The Frontenacs open the 2026-27 OHL regular season tomorrow night in Peterborough against the Petes before returning home on Sunday, September 20th for our Home Opener against the Ottawa 67’s. The puck may drop at 3:05PM but the real fun starts at 12:00PM with our annual Home Opener Tailgate Party.
