Each month in partnership with Georgian College, an Owen Sound Attack player is recognized for his outstanding achievements not on the ice, but inside the classroom. The Academic Player of the Month award is presented to the player that demonstrates the ability to maintain high academic standing while also excelling on the ice.

The Owen Sound Attack’s Academic Player of the Month for October is rookie defensemen Cal Uens. He has completed the month with an average of 92.7% including a 98% in Grade 12 english, 87% in Ontario Literacy, 80% Grade 11 Math, 87% in Grade 12 Business, 99% in Grade 12 leadership and 99% in Co-operative Studies. Cal was also recognized by the Ontario Hockey League as the MidWest Division Academic Player of the Month.

The Owen Sound Attack’s Academic Player of the Month for November is rookie forward Colby Barlow who has completed the month with an average of 88.4% including a 70% in Grade 11 university Functions, 90% in Grade 12 university International Business, 91% in Grade 12 Literacy, 95% in Grade 12 university Leadership and 96% in Cooperative studies.
