Attack Suffer Tough Loss Against Spirit
In a thrilling start to the Playoff season, Attack fans would witness an electric game between Owen Sound and Saginaw. Both teams entered the game with determination and a hunger for a win. It would be Saginaw that would emerge with a 6-4 win over the Attack. Making key plays for the Attack would be Cedrick Guindon, Declan Waddick, Deni Goure and Konnor Smith all making their first playoff goal of the 2024 season. In net for the Attack would be Carter George making an exceptional 40 saves overall.
From the opening face-off, Saginaw would show their strength as they would open the scoring under 5 minutes in the first period. The Attack would band together shortly after as Servac Petrovsky would spin the puck into the front of the Spirit’s net, as Guindon would find the back of the net. Finding their second goal of the period the Spirit would score once again on the Attack bringing the final score in the first period to 2-1 Saginaw.
The Attack’s offensive strategy proved effective early on as they relentlessly peppered the Saginaw Spirit’s goaltender with a barrage of shots early in the second period. Being 45 seconds into the period Sam McCue would feed the puck to Waddick from behind the Spirit’s net earning then their second goal of the game. Colby Barlow would be quick for a shot on Saginaw’s net, rebounding right infront of Goure. Goure would set up making a perfect shot into their net. Saginaw would answer with an additional two goals in the second, bringing the now score to 3-4
The third period saw both teams trading chances in a back-and-forth battle for the upper hand. Saginaw would spring forward with gain two more goal in the third period despite Owen Sound’s efforts. In a late scoring effort Smith would make his Playoffs debut goal with a mere few seconds remaining in the final period. Despite their last push , the Attack would fall 6-4 against the Spirit.
