Garry Davidson Named New Everett GM
Garry Davidson, the Portland Winterhawks’ Director of Player Personnel, is resigning from the team to join the Everett Silvertips as General Manager.
Davidson had been with the Winterhawks since 2008, and in his position oversaw the team’s scouting of bantam players in preparation for the annual WHL bantam draft.
“It doesn’t surprise me that Gary was offered this position because I believe he is one of the best hockey minds in the business. We were fortunate to have had him as our Director of Player Personnel for the last three years. He has provided us with a solid foundation moving forward and we want to wish him well in Everett,” said Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston.
Davidson came to the Winterhawks after a long career in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). He ran the Salmon Arm SilverBacks as owner, general manager and head coach, and spent time as a coach and general manager with Penticton, Nanaimo, Victoria and Trail. Three times he was named BCHL Coach of the Year.
