Davis, Payne step down from Winterhawks scouting staff
Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club today announced updates to its scouting department.
Following 16 years of service with the Winterhawks, Head Manitoba Scout Brad Davis has announced that he is stepping down to pursue other opportunities.
“Brad was a leader on our scouting staff and responsible for identifying and bringing many outstanding players to Portland. We are very grateful for his dedication to our organization and to helping the Winterhawks become a WHL contender and champion during his career. We wish Brad and his wife Lynn the very best in their future,” Director of Scouting and Assistant to the General Manager Mike Coflin said.
“Brad has proven time and time again to be one of the best scouts in the WHL,” said Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston. “We were very fortunate to have him on our staff for as many years as we did.”
Ray Payne, the Winterhawks’ BC Regional Scout, will also step aside after six years with the team.
“Ray brought his vast NHL and pro experience to our staff in his role scouting in BC. He was a well-respected voice on our scouting staff and demonstrated a tireless work ethic and pursuit of player talent for the Winterhawks,” Coflin said.
The Winterhawks would like to thank Brad and Ray for their dedication to the Winterhawks through the years and the countless hours they put toward the development of young hockey players.
