Ness returns from Detroit ready for Warriors season
MOOSE JAW, Sask. – Captain Brady Ness has returned to the Moose Jaw Warriors following an appearance with the Detroit Red Wings at their annual Rookie Showcase.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity,” said Ness. “It’s something you dream of, so just to go down [to Detroit] will be an amazing experience.”
Ness and the Red Wings rookies posted two wins out of three during the Rookie Showcase against prospects from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Dallas Stars. In Tuesday afternoon’s game, Ness dropped the gloves for his first fight at the pro level.
“I’ve got a lot of people in my corner; the staff has been great, teammates as well, even my parents and family members,” said Ness. “[They’ve helped me] just to really hone this opportunity and do everything I can.”
Turning to the Warriors’ season, Ness agrees that the veterans on the team all have to take a step this season to reach their ultimate goal.
“Every day, you really have to self-assess and see what you can do to be the best leader you can be,” said Ness. “We want to make the playoffs; we’re super hungry for that, so that’s what we’re building towards.”
