PREVIEW: Pats Look To Continue Streak Against Blazers
Kamloops, B.C. – The Regina Pats continue their Western Canada road trip today in Kamloops against the Blazers at the Sandman Centre at 9:00 p.m. Sask. time.
The Pats are coming off a 6-5 overtime win over the Kelowna Rockets on Tuesday, improving to 3-0 over their Western Canada road swing. Alexander Suzdalev capped off a four point outing (2G-2A) with the overtime winner. Stanislav Svozil matched his career-high in points with four, recording four assists and Borya Valis also tallied three points (1G-2A). Drew Sim recorded his second straight victory, making 39 saves. The final shots were 44-34 for the Rockets. The Pats were 3-4 on the power play and 3-7 on their penalty kill, allowing four power play goals against for a second straight game.
The Blazers meanwhile are coming off a 4-1 win over the Prince George Cougars on Saturday. Caedan Bankier scored twice, Fraser Minten and Ashton Ferster had singles. The Cougars outshot the Blazers 35-28. Prince George was 0-5 on their power play while Kamloops was 1-3.
Previously, Kamloops fell to Moose Jaw 3-2. Moose Jaw led 3-0 going into the third, and the Blazers scored twice in the final frame to make it a one goal game. Logan Stankovan and Daylan Kuefler scored for the Blazers in the loss, while Michael Schnattinger made 26 saves. They have now gone 3-2-2-0 over their last seven games.
The Kamloops Blazers are gearing up to host the Kia Memorial Cup. Last season the Blazers went 48-17-3-0 with 99 points, finishing fourth in the WHL. They lost in seven games to Seattle in the Western Conference Finals.
