Pats Sign Goaltender Cruz Chase
Regina, Sask. — The Regina Pats are pleased to announce the signing of 2007-born goaltender Cruz Chase to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
“Cruz [Chase] is a really good kid who works hard and competes to stop pucks,” Regina Pats Director of Scouting Dale McMullin said. “The growth projection looks good, as he’s developing well in U18 AAA this year at 15-years-old. Anyone who has worked with him speaks highly of his character.”
Chase, 15, has posted a 3-12-2 record with a 4.21 goals-against average and a .883 save percentage in 17 games this season with the Airdrie CFR Bisons U18 AAA team. The Airdrie, Alta. product went 14-2-0 with a 2.13 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage with one shutout last season with the Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA program. The 5-foot-11, 161 lb. goaltender was drafted by the Pats in the seventh round (136th overall) in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft. Chase also participated in the Circle K Classic while also representing Team Blue at the Alberta Cup.
“He’s a young goalie who has good athletic ability and the potential to grow physically,” Regina Pats GM and Head Coach John Paddock said. “We’d like to officially welcome Cruz and his family to the Pats organization and are excited about this signing.”
