PREVIEW: Pats eye road victory against Rebels
Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats continue the 2025 part of their schedule with a matchup against the Red Deer Rebels, with puck drop set for 8pm CST.

PREVIEW
The Regina Pats take on the Red Deer Rebels in the first of four meetings this season. Historically speaking, 15 of their last 16 meetings have been decided by two goals or less since the 2019-20 season. Three of four games last season went to extra-time, with Regina going 2-1-0-1.
The Pats have dropped their last three games following a 4-3 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors on New Year’s Day where Rilen Kovacevic scored the go-ahead goal with 37 seconds to play in regulation.
The Pats fell down 3-0 early in the second period, but scored three straight goals to tie things up at three going into the third. Zach Pantelakis (1G-1A), Caden Brown and Anthony Wilson scored for Regina, while Aleksey Chichkin tallied two assists. Madden Mulawka made 19 saves in his first start of the season. The final shots were 36-23 for the Pats. Regina was 1-3 on their PP & 3-5 on their PK.
Meanwhile, the Red Deer Rebels are coming off a 6-2 loss to the Calgary Hitmen on Friday, and have now dropped their last five games. Their last victory came on December 14 vs. Kamloops (W, 4-2).
Carson Birnie and Jaxon Fuder (1G-1A) scored goals for Red Deer while Chase Wutzke made 36 saves. The final shots were 42-34 for the Hitmen. Red Deer was 0-1 on their power play and 1-3 on their penalty kill.
Over their five game skid, the Rebels have been outscored 26-to-10.
WHO TO WATCH
Zach Pantelakis continues to stay hot for the Pats, riding a five game point-streak with six points during that time (4G-2A). Last game versus Moose Jaw, the Vancouver product had his second multi-point game of the season (1G-1A). He now has seven points (4G-3A) in his last 14 games.
For the Rebels, Hunter Mayo is an important player to watch out for as his 11 goals this season leads the Rebels roster, and ranks fourth amongst WHL defencemen. In addition, 18-year-old forward Jaxon Fuder has points in four of his last six games (2G-3A) after picking up a multi-point game last night (1G-1A).
COMING UP
The Regina Pats have a quick turn around as they are back in action tomorrow afternoon with a 2pm CST puck drop against the Calgary Hitmen at the Saddledome. The Pats will then rematch the Moose Jaw Warriors on January 10 before returning home on January 11, as they host the Portland Winterhawks.
