Pats forward Whitehead Arizona State-bound following WHL career
Regina, Sask.- Regina Pats veteran Braxton Whitehead is headed for Arizona State University and Sun Devils men’s hockey following the conclusion of his WHL career.
The 5-foot-10, 163-pound centre has two goals and seven assists (the second-most helpers on his team) for nine points in 16 matches this season.
Since being selected by the Pats with the 66th overall pick in the 2019 WHL Prospect Draft, Whitehead has amassed 40 goals and 63 assists for 103 points in 211 regular-season contests.
He’s coming off a career-best year that saw him hit a point-per-game average with 17 goals and 35 assists in 52 games.
Whitehead, who hails from Palmer, Alaska, announced his verbal commitment to ASU on an Instagram post on September 13, 2024.
“The WHL has given me an incredible opportunity to develop as a player, and I couldn’t be more excited for the 24-25 season with the Regina Pats,” Whitehead wrote. “Thank you to my coaching staff in Regina, Pittsburgh an Alaska, as well as my teammates, advisor, friends and family.”
Braxton and the Pats now turn their attention to a monumental moment in franchise history as Regina hits the ice for the 5000th game in franchise history on Friday, November 15 as they visit the Brandon Wheat Kings.
