67’s Strength and Conditioning Coach Sean Young joins Pittsburgh Penguins organization
Ottawa 67’s Director of Conditioning Sean Young has joined the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Young worked his first game with the Penguins on Tuesday night, a 5–1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
A respected member of the 67’s staff since the 2018-19 season, Young was promoted to Director of Conditioning ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. Over his seven seasons in Ottawa, he played a key role in player development and team performance, working closely with athletes both on and off the ice.
In addition to his work in the OHL, Young has been a fixture with Hockey Canada since 2021, serving on the support staff for four consecutive IIHF World Junior Championships. He has also been named to Canada’s Men’s Olympic Team staff for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Away from the rink, Young is the owner and head strength coach at the Canadian Strength Institute. A former national track and field athlete, he also represented Canada as a guide runner for visually impaired sprinters. He received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for his contributions to the Paralympic movement.
