As the 2025–26 OHL season approaches this September, the Peterborough Petes are looking to build on their (18–41–4–5) record from last year. We spoke with GM Mike Oke about the new faces fans should be keeping an eye on as the team prepares for the upcoming campaign.
Class Quote
“We’ve had a very busy offseason and made some significant changes to our roster. In addition to a number of players eligible to return from last year’s team, we’ve added some veteran players with significant OHL experience through trades. We’ve also added some exciting young talent through the OHL Priority Selection and the CHL Import Draft. There are also a number of free agents attending training camp looking to earn a full-time position with the Petes this season. We expect a highly competitive training camp beginning this week.”

Player Spotlights:
Adam Novotný – LW
Selected in the first round (8th overall) in the 2024 CHL Import Draft, Adam Novotný appeared in 41 games last season for the Mountfield HK in Czechia’s top professional league, scoring one goal and adding two assists. He also featured in 10 playoff games for Mountfield, scoring twice. He also represented Czechia at the 2025 World Junior Championships, scoring once and helping his team win a bronze medal.
“Adam is a player who comes to the Petes with a solid resume. At 17, Adam already has experience playing professional hockey and in the World Juniors for Czechia. He’s a physically strong player who skates well, has a good, quick release, and isn’t afraid to battle to get the puck. We’re very excited to help Adam develop this season as he prepares for the 2026 NHL Draft.”
Kaden McGregor – C
Selected as the first overall pick in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, Kaden McGregor, a right-handed centre from Braeside, ON, captained the Ottawa Valley Titans U16’s to a 29-2-1 record last season, good enough for first in the HEO U16 league. In 29 regular season games, he scored a league leading 38 goals and added a league best 44 assists for 82 points, giving him 2.83 points per game. McGregor also led the playoffs in scoring, picking up 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in nine games, leading the Titans to an HEO Championship and a berth in the OHL Cup. In the OHL Cup, McGregor finished third in scoring with 11 points (3-8–11) in five games, helping the Titans to a quarter-final finish. With his performance, he was named to the tournament All-Star team, becoming the only player on this past year’s All-Star team to not make the finals.
“Kaden is a player who we had a chance to watch a lot last season with the Ottawa Valley Titans and we were very happy to select him with the first overall pick in the 2025 draft. He is a solid, two-way centre who competes hard on every shift. He’s coming off a milestone season with the Titans, where he led the league in goals, assists, and points, while being named HEO Player of the Year.”
Kieran Raynor – C
Selected in the second round (27th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, Kieran Raynor spent the 2024-25 season with the Niagara North Stars U16’s last season, recording 52 points (29-23–52). He then added 13 points (5-8–13) in eight playoff games, helping the North Stars to a place in the OMHA Championships and the OHL Cup. Raynor also skated in three games last season for the GOJHL’s St. Catharines Falcons, picking up one assist.
“Kieran is a hard-working forward who had a solid season last year, leading the Niagara North Stars in scoring. He’s a very good skater with good edge control and is someone with a high hockey IQ who can play in multiple situations. He had the chance to play some games in GOJHL last season as well, showing us that he can play against older competition.”
Matthew Perreault – RD
Selected in the second round (31st overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, Matthew Perreault is a right-handed defenceman who played in 25 games for the Toronto Titans U16’s in the GTHL last season, recording 10 points (1-9–10). He also featured in five games in the 2025 OHL Cup, picking up four assists.
“Matthew is a smooth skating defenceman who was a big part of a very strong Toronto Titans team. He moves the puck well and is very poised in his own end. Matthew had a very good OHL Cup with the Titans, tying for the team lead in points by a defenceman with four assists in five games.”
Gerry DiCunzolo – C
Selected in the third round (61st overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, Gerry DiCunzolo played in 62 games for Shattuck-St. Mary’s 15O last season, leading the team in scoring with 147 points (57-90–147). He also played in four games with Shattuck at the USA 15 only National Championships, once again leading his team in scoring with 6 points (3-3–6).
“Gerry comes to the Petes from Shattuck-St. Mary’s, a historic hockey program in Minnesota. He’s a strong skater who handles the puck well and has a good eye for the net. Gerry is coming off of a very strong performance at the 2025 U17 Four Nations where he had five goals and eight points in four games while playing for the USA.”
