Sting Drop Game 1
A Storm rolled through the SSEC Friday night before 4106 spectators as the Guelph Storm threw everything at the Sting including 49 shots and left with a 5-2 victory and a 1-0 series lead.
The Sting found themselves down 2-0 on opening period goals by Eric Larochelle (1) and Martin St. Pierre (1). Sting forward Danny Fritsche replied (1) late in the first as the Sting found themselves down 2-1 after 1.
The Sting would have life and tie the score late in the 2nd on an outstanding individual effort by overage forward Kris Newbury (1). But the Storm were able to deflate the Sting with a goal in the final minute of the period by Andrew Archer (1) that sent the Sting to the dressing room on a down note trailing 3-2 after 2.
The Storm would add 3rd period goals by Tyler Haskins (1) and Colin Power (1) for the 5-2 final.
Game 2 of the series goes Sunday at 6:30 in Guelph.
