Sting Down Storm 4-1
Sarnia, ON – The usual suspects showed up for the Sting Saturday night when the Guelph Storm came to town.
Leading scorer Chad Painchaud looked after the offense with 3 goals while overage netminder Ryan Nie shut the door on the Storm making 38 saves on 39 shots.
The Sting gained 2 points on the idle Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds with their 4-1 over Guelph.
The Storm actually came into the SSEC Saturday night riding a 5-game winning streak before falling to the Sting.
Jamie Fraser would add the other Sting marker to go along with Painchaud’s hat-trick. Tomas Pospisil also had a big night recording 3 assists and was named the games 3rd star.
The lone Guelph goal was an unassisted effort by rookie Jamie Arniel.
The Sting now look forward to the biggest game of the season Thursday night when the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds visit the SSEC.
The Sting currently trail the Greyhounds by 7 points in the hunt for the 8th and final playoff spot.
