OHL Awards
The Leo Lalonde Memorial Trophy is awarded each year to the best overage player in the Ontario Hockey League as selected by the OHL General Managers. The trophy was donated by the trainers of the Ontario Hockey League in memory of Leo Lalonde, former chief scout of OHL Central Scouting.
General Managers were not permitted to vote for players from their own hockey club. Players received five points for a first place vote, three points for a second place vote and one point for a third place vote.
Charlie finished the voting process with 78 points out of a possible 95 points, with Saginaw Spirit forward Garret Ross finishing in second place with 48 voting points.
Charlie was formally presented the trohpy June 4th in the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Great Hall in Toronto.
Sting alumni Aaron Brand and Justin Dibenedetto also won the award in their final season of OHL hockey and both went on to successful pro careers.
The Sarnia Sting organization wishes Charlie all the best in his future endeavours!
