Iafrate and Sting Blank 67’s
Sarnia,ON – It was an afternoon full of treats and minus any tricks for the Sting on Sunday as they defeated the Ottawa 67’s 1-0 at the SSEC.
Following a scoreless first period, the Sting would get the first and only goal of the game when forward Micheal Haley broke in on his off wing on a Sting powerplay and snapped his 4th goal of the season past 67’s netminder Anthony Guadagnolo.
From there on out it was the Mike Iafrate show. Iafrate turned aside 24 Ottawa shots including many point blank opportunities and a game saving dive across the goal line taking away an almost sure 67 goal.
The Sting would have a chance to go up by two goals late when Haley was awarded a penalty shot late in the third but was bested by Guadognolo.
The Sting now look to make it two in a row when the Oshawa Generals visit the SSEC next Friday.
