Game Report | Sting Fall 4-1 to Knights on New Year’s Day
The Sarnia Sting visited the London Knights at Budweiser Gardens on Monday afternoon. Being the opening game of 2018, both sides were eager to get off to a hot start.
Sting and Knights on New Year’s Day? We know there’s nothing better.
Coming off a 4-2 loss to London yesterday in the first game of the home-and-home, the Sting had their sights set on a different result today.
Appropriately enough, it was Drake Rymsha who started the new year off right. Rymsha scored his eighteenth of the season to open up 2018, giving the Sting a 1-0 lead midway through the first period.

London forward Tyler Rollo tied the game at ones before intermission.
In the second, Rymsha continued to carry the pace of the play. Rymsha broke in on Knights goaltender Jordan Kooy on a breakaway, deked, and was narrowly stopped by the right pad.
Justin Fazio did Justin Fazio things in goal for the Sting, calmly controlling everything thrown his way.
Franco Sproviero had a goal waived off halfway through the middle frame. After an extensive six minute video review, it was determined the puck had deflected high off Jordan Ernst’s stick before winding up in the net later in the play. A tie game remained.
It took until late in the second for the Knights to get another one past the Sting netminder. London defenceman Andrew Perrott came streaking in on a two-on-one and fired a shot into the mesh. It was Perrott’s second goal this season.
In the third, London forward Dalton DuHart scored his first career Ontario Hockey League goal to give the Knights a 3-1 lead.
Sting defenceman Theo Calvas left a nasty dent on London’s right goal post. Calvas opened fire on Kooy with a clear rocket on net.
Knights forward Cole Tymkin made it 4-1 with seven minutes to go. Tymkin was in tight on Fazio and lifted in a backhander.
Fazio made twenty-eight saves on thirty-two shots against.
