GAME REPORT: Sting Drop 7-6 Overtime Decision to Spirit
The Sarnia Sting visited the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday night.
It was the second of three straight games for the Sting this weekend. Tonight at the Dow Event Center, the Sting encountered a crazy end to the game. Sarnia has been on the winning side of some hectic finishes this season, but tonight they experienced the other end, dropping a 7-6 overtime decision.
In the first period, Anthony Salinitri opened the scoring just thirty-two seconds in. Salinitri had back-to-back chances in front of Spirit goaltender Evan Cormier, and whacked in the second one.
Then, Drake Rymsha went to work.
Rymsha scored a natural hat-trick to complete the first period of play. On his first, Rymsha went top shelf with a snapshot on a string. To get his second, Rymsha went low between the five-hole. And to cap it off, Rymsha comes cruising into your screen in the video below, finishing off the hat-trick.

In the second, Hugo Leufvenius scored two minutes in on a breakaway. Leufvenius showed off the jets, accelerating right past a turned around Saginaw defenceman before casually lobbing the puck past the Spirit goalie. Franco Sproviero added one of his own with under three minutes remaining. It was 6-0 for the Sting.
To finish out the second, the Spirit scored two quick goals. DJ Busdeker and Duncan Penman both got Saginaw on the scoresheet.
In the final frame, the Spirit scored four more. Blade Jenkins, Ryan Stepien, Brady Gilmour, and Damien Giroux combined to tie the game at 6-6.
Cole Coskey scored in overtime to give Saginaw the 7-6 victory.
