Sting Snap Skid
Sarnia, ON – It was a long time coming. But the Sarnia Sting snapped a 7-game losing streak Thursday night at the SSEC and did so in impressive fashion.
The Sting took on the division leading Plymouth Whalers and handily defeated them 5-1.
The game got off to a rocky start when Plymouth’s James Neal scored an unassisted power play tally to put the Whalers up 1-0 but it would be all Sting from there.
The Sting would score the equalizer later in the period on a Craig Voakes goal and would then score twice in the second and twice in the third for the 5-1 win.
It was a balanced attack for the Sting on this night as they had five different scorers with goals going to Voakes, Daniel Lombardi, Justin DiBenedetto, Steven Reese and Harrison Reed.
Parker Van Buskirk was solid in net for the Sting turning aside 29 of 30 shots for the win.
The Sting wont have much time to savour the win as they head to the John Labatt Centre on Friday to take on the London Knights. Game time is 7:30.
