Frontenacs name Patrick Sanvido as an Assistant Coach
The Kingston Frontenacs are pleased to welcome Patrick Sanvido as an Assistant Coach with the hockey club.
Sanvido, the 27-year-old from Guelph, ON has spent the last two seasons as an Assistant Coach with Queen’s University’s Men’s hockey program.
Prior to his coaching days, Sanvido spent five seasons as a defenseman in the OHL, primarily with the Windsor Spitfires, a team he captained from 2014-2016. He was known as a stay-at-home defenseman and for his physical play. In 284 OHL games with the Spitfires and Wolves, Sanvido scored 8 goals and 35 assists, while accumulating 249 penalty minutes.
“Pat is an exciting addition to our coaching staff,” announced General Manager Kory Cooper. “His coaching beliefs and details sync well with our current system and coaching philosophy. Pat’s experience playing as a defenseman in this league will be a benefit to the development of our players.”
From 2017-22, Sanvido patrolled the blue line for the Queen’s University Gaels playing in 103 games, scoring 9 goals and 21 assists. He was part of the Queen’s Cup winning team in 2019.
Immediately following his playing days with the Gaels, Sanvido joined Brett Gibson’s staff as an Assistant Coach to begin the 2022-23 season.
“Knowing that Pat spent time playing for, and coaching with Brett Gibson at Queen’s is something that we valued when hiring him.” added Cooper. “Gibby is someone that we have a lot of respect for as a coach and as a person. Pat has learned a lot while working with Brett, and we are excited to see him implement that knowledge with the Frontenacs.”
Sanvido made his debut with the Frontenacs in Oshawa on Sunday evening resulting in a 5-4 shootout win for Kingston.
The Frontenacs head to Ottawa on Wednesday morning to take on the 67’s in their annual school day game. The team returns home for a doubleheader weekend with the Steelheads visiting on Friday night, before the Bulldogs arrive on Saturday night. Both games begin at 7 PM.
