Portland Winterhawks vs. Kelowna Rockets
Friday, January 9 • 7:00 P.M.
The Portland Winterhawks are proud to partner with the You Can Play Project for their sixth annual Pride Night on Friday, January 9 against the Kelowna Rockets. As part of the “Hawkey For All” series, the night highlights the organization’s commitment to inclusion and creating a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ fans, players, and staff in hockey.
The You Can Play Project works to ensure the safety and inclusion for all who participate in sports, including LGBTQ+ athletes, coaches and fans. We achieve this by creating a community of allies that is able to foster a true sense of belonging. This becomes possible when sports teams sharpen the focus on the person’s skills, work ethic, and competitive spirit, not their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
You Can Play seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by developing a culture of respect, in every player, coach and fan.
Here’s what to expect on game night!
PRIDE MERCH COLLECTION
The fan-favorite Pride collection is back for 2026 with a few new additions! We partnered with Official League for another exclusive sweatshirt design, plus two unique hats as well as t-shirts, one in partnership with the You Can Play project. And as always, game-night pucks are available as well.

IN-GAME ELEMENTS
Before the game, fans are invited to take part in a pre-game concourse parade alongside local community groups and stop by to connect with LGBTQ+ organizations participating in Pride Night.
Before puck drop, make sure you’re in your seats for a special anthem performance from the Portland Lesbian Choir. We will have an on-ice parade in the first intermission and a special performance on the concourse from the Portland Lesbian Choir during the second intermission.
Throughout the night, hear from our co-host, Whitney Wolfe, about pride-themed in-game elements including mini-games, featuring our local members of the Pride Community!
It’s a great time to celebrate everyone in the Winterhawks family – Happy Pride Night, Portland!
