GLASS, JOKIHARJU NAMED TO SHERWIN-WILLIAMS CHL/NHL TOP PROSPECTS GAME
Portland Winterhawks forward Cody Glass and defenseman Henri Jokiharju have been selected to play in the 2017 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Quebec City on January 30, 2017.
Glass, who was rated an ‘A’ prospect in the latest rankings by NHL Central Scouting, has 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points in 33 games this season. He’s the Winterhawks’ leading scorer and ranks sixth in the WHL overall in points.
Jokiharju, who is in his first season playing in North America, was rated a ‘B’ prospect in the latest rankings by NHL Central Scouting. He’s picked up five goals and 13 assists for 18 points through 33 games. The Finnish import’s 18 points is first in the WHL among rookie defensemen.
“It’s an honor for both Cody and Henri to be considered one of the top-40 draft prospects in the CHL,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager, Head Coach, and Vice President Mike Johnston. “The Winterhawks are focused on developing players for the next level, and we believe both Cody and Henri will show the scouts in attendance that they have the tools to become impact players in the National Hockey League. They follow in the footsteps of recent Winterhawks prospects such as Ryan Johansen and Nic Petan, and become the 15th and 16th Hawks to have played in this event since 2010.”
The 40 CHL players competing in the game were chosen by all 30 NHL clubs and divided into teams by NHL Central Scouting. This season’s event marks the 22nd annual showcase of the CHL’s top-40 NHL Draft eligible players featuring talent from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Western Hockey League competing before hundreds of NHL scouts in attendance.
