Buy Tickets: Friday, 7 pm | Saturday, 7 pm
The Hawks only had one game at home last Friday against the Tri-City Americans, and will meet the Americans again in Kennewick tonight. The Hawks will then return to Portland to host a pair of games this weekend at the Memorial Coliseum: on Friday against the Vancouver Giants and then on Saturday against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Look Back at the Weekend: Feb. 13-15
- Venue change: Friday’s game against the Vancouver Giants was originally scheduled for the Moda Center, but was relocated earlier this season and will instead be played at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Click here for tickets to Friday’s game.
- The Hawks played just one game in the last week, but made the most of it with a 7-1 win over Tri-Cities Friday, a game in which they exploded for six goals in the second period. With Portland playing just once over the last week, it evened out the games played for teams in the U.S. Division. After a busy January for the Hawks, the other U.S. Division teams had games in hand and the ability to gain ground on Portland. This advantage has since evened out, and now every team in the division is within one game played of each other making the field even as the teams head into the stretch.
- Miles Koules had three points in last Friday’s victory over the Americans, continuing his recent significant offensive output. Koules has points in all but four games since the start of January, totaling 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 17 games since the calendar turned to 2015.
- Hawks netminder Adin Hill continues to lead all WHL goaltenders with a save percentage of 0.924. He’s stopped 1119 of the 1826 shots he’s faced so far this season, with a goals against average of 2.79 which gives him seventh place overall in the WHL in that category.
Look Ahead: Feb. 16 – 20
- The Hawks travel to Kennewick tonight to take on the Tri-City Americans for the second time this week after Portland defeated the Americans 7-1 last Friday. The Hawks have swept the series so far, but the two teams still have four more contests before the regular season is over. Oliver Bjorkstrand and Miles Koules now have eight points apiece in the five victories over the Americans.
- On Friday, the Hawks host the Vancouver Giants in their fourth and final matchup of the regular season as Portland seeks to even the series, which currently rests at 2-1 in favor of the Giants. The Hawks are led by Chase De Leo’s four points against the Giants, while Vancouver’s Tyler Benson has six points against the Hawks. Then, on Saturday night the Hawks host the Lethbridge Hurricanes in their lone meeting this year. The two teams last squared off on Oct. 22, 2013 in Lethbridge, when the Hawks earned the 3-2 victory. - Saturday is USA Hockey’s Try Hockey For Free Day, when kids between the ages of 4 – 9 can suit up and give hockey a chance. There will be two opportunities for kids in the Portland Metro area: Mountain View Ice Arena in Vancouver will host the event from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m., or families can head to Winterhawks Skating Center in Beaverton from 9:50 – 10:50 a.m. to get their kids on the ice. For more information on both events, click here.
- March 6 is the deadline to buy raffle tickets to the Jerseys off the Backs promotion. Tickets are available at all home games, with lucky winners being invited down to the ice after the game on March 15 to receive the jersey right off the back of a Winterhawks player.
