Winterhawks Weekly: Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays from the Winterhawks! The boys picked up a pair of wins last week and head into the break with victories in five of their last six games.
Hot Hawks:
- Forward Gabe Klassen notched a goal and five assists last week to push his point streak to six games, with two goals, 12 assists and 14 points in that span. The Hawks’ captain leads the team and ranks third in the WHL with 17-41–58 in 32 games.
- Forward Josh Davies heads into the break with goals in three straight games and points in six straight. The newly-signed Florida Panthers prospect already boasts career highs in both goals (23) and points (41) through just 28 games.
- Defenseman Luca Cagnoni picked up six assists in three games, highlighted by a four-helper showing against Wenatchee on Wednesday. The San Jose Sharks’ prospect ranks second among all WHL blueliners with 39 points in 30 games this season.
- Defenseman Tyson Jugnauth posted two assists in Friday’s win in Spokane, including a herculean effort to set up James Stefan’s OT winner. The Kelowna, B.C. native has points in three of five games played with the Hawks since coming over from the Univ. of Wisconsin.
Play of the Week:
A dramatic win on Friday was made complete with some OT heroics from Tyson Jugnauth and James Stefan. The newest Winterhawk carried the puck on his own in the Chiefs’ offensive zone for more than 20 seconds before finding Stefan, who picked his spot for the game-winning goal. What a play! ⤵️
