Enemy Territory
After a pair of games in Portland to start the series last weekend, the Hawks and Warriors are set to face off in Moose Jaw for back-to-back tilts tonight and tomorrow. The Winterhawks find themselves down 2-0 in the best-of-seven series but remain steadfast in their ability to fight back, one game at a time. After falling in Game 1 of the Western Conference Championship, Portland rallied for a key road win in Prince George to set themselves up nicely with positive momentum as they returned home. The challenge is different this time around, but the task remains the same: block out the noise and pick up a key win on the road.
After practice on Monday, Head Coach/GM Mike Johnston spoke about the team’s resilience and ability to respond after tough results throughout the year, and forward James Stefan offered his thoughts on the team being able to rely on its body of work for confidence heading into a hostile environment.
“I think the main message is just, 'keep the belief in our group.' I know we have it, I trust every guy in our room, and I know that no one is doubting themselves.” – Hear from @EdmontonOilers prospect James Stefan as they gear up for Game 3 in Moose Jaw.@pdxwinterhawks pic.twitter.com/DJ5FIOCrWw

“If we’ve had a game on the road where we haven’t played very well, we’ve always rebounded…they’re going to be ready for tomorrow night.” – @pdxwinterhawks Head Coach Mike Johnston chats about being the visiting team at the #WHLChampionship Series. pic.twitter.com/oBXDlp1j7w
