Hawks Fall 3-1 in Game 2 in Everett
The Portland Winterhawks fell 3-1 in Everett Saturday in Game 2 of their first round playoff series against the Silvertips. Everett leads the series 2-0, with Game 3 Tuesday in Portland at the Moda Center at 7 p.m.
Portland struck first 2:06 into the game on an early power play when Rihards Bukarts banged in a rebound for a 1-0 lead. Everett responded at 4:22 when Brandon Ralph scored to make it 1-1, followed at 12:40 with Matt Fonteyne scoring a power play goal for a 2- 1 lead they took into the second.
Just over seven minutes into the second, Remi Laurencelle scored to give the Silvertips a 3-1 they maintained heading into the third.
From there, the Hawks fought throughout the third to get back into the game, but Everett finished with the two-goal victory.
Adin Hill made 34 saves in the loss, while Mario Petit turned away 24 of Portland’s 25 shots.
